Easter 2009

Easter was great this year! Both boys were excited to color and eggs and were very excited about the fun things that the Easter Bunny brought them. We were also lucky to have Grandma Carryn here to celebrate with us.

Easter with the Diamondbacks

A special treat that the Easter Bunny brought us, was a ticket for each of us and Grandma Carryn to see our first Diamondbacks game as a family. We had a great time! I haven't been to a game since before I had Carter, so it was great to see how family friendly it was. Upon entering the park each of the boys got a fun sandbox set, we got to give Baxter a high five, we joined the "No Chew Crew" and got free t-shirts and free tickets for the kids for every Sunday for the rest of the season, we played at the little park there, and the kids ran the bases after the game. Of course, we did catch a little of the game and had some cotton candy! I was so impressed with how well the boys did for the first few innings, they were very attentive and interested in what was going on. It was a great day and a wonderful experience to share with my boys!

SOCCER!!

In attempt to introduce the boys to sports, we enrolled both of them in soccer. They started a couple of Saturdays ago, it is quite a comical event! Jake is not a big fan of the whole team thing (not that I really expected much, he is only 2). He doesn't really like to participate with the rest of the kids, and only wants "My doccer ball!" So, if he has his ball and can run around kicking it wherever he wants, he is perfectly happy! Awesome use of $50. Carter gets it a little bit more, although, last Saturday when were split into teams he didn't really understand "helping his team out". He said "I tried to help them, but they weren't helping me!" He made himself the "Goalie" but didn't really get that he needed to stop the ball. He almost appeared at times to be letting the kids have their fair turn with the ball and not willing to kick it away from them. He has such good manners! I am so the screaming mom from the side lines -- I really need to get it under control!

That doesn't look right!

Scott's ankle after a friendly game of church basketball.
30 minutes and 1 win later
Scott's foot the next morning with the cat that likes to rub up against foot.
12 hours and 6 ibuprofen later
(note: cat did not make it)

Scott's foot the next night after 16 ibuprofen and 3 vicodin.
I believe the pharmacist gave me the placebo drug instead.
Correction, I believe the pharmacist gave me the correct prescription, but the wife switched them out thinking that she could use them later. She insisted that the pain was "all in my head".
24 hours later
(note: cat was buried in shallow grave due to limited use of my foot with shovel)

Scott's foot 36 hours after.

Stay tuned for updates.

My toes are turning to a lite greenish color as we speak.

It is kind of gross, but I am headed to Home Depot to see if they can match the color before it changes too much. I think it would be a nice color for the bathroom wall.

Where are all my blankets?

Kristi likes to keep the house at a nice "comfortable" level. It has to be cold enough to use a blanket at night, -it is more comfortable that way.

Well, no blankets could be found when it was nap time for Jake. Carter had taken all of them to build his "fort" to take a nap in. I am too big to go in and get him too. It has a room for him to lay down in, a secret tunnel along the ottoman, and another "secret" room.
On the positive side, atleast someone is using those exercise balls!

One of dad's proudest moments

There is a time in every dads life when he is proud of his kids. One of those times came last night when I caught Jake watching tv in my room. He will usually go in after he is suppose to be in bed and turn on cartoons. Last night I heard the tv on and thought I was hearing double. I am getting old, so thought nothing of it until the commercials came on and still heard doubles. I came in and caught him watching sports! Not only sports, but college sports, one of the truest passions in a guys life. I was proud of the little guy, because he had passed up cartoons to get to the basketball game. It almost brought a tear to my eye because he passed up another basketball game and settled on the Kansas Jayhawks, who have finally made it back into the top 25. I wiped my eyes and gave him a hug and a sucker.

I cannot wait until March comes. He thought that the magic of Christmas time was fun. He has no idea what the magic of March Madness brings. We are off to Dick's to buy some size 3T jerseys and ball cap.

Christmas 2008

So sorry with my delay with posting about Christmas, needless to say we have been quite busy this last 6 weeks or so! We did have a wonderful holiday though! Although hard for some of you to believe, I still have not mastered this good parent thing yet. Christmas Day I completely forgot to take any photos! Mommy was in charge of the video camera this year so the still shots were never taken. I think from this point on though I will blame that on Scott, he was just watching the kids, he should have remembered to take some pictures. Anyway...Christmas eve the boys helped me make cookies (no salmonella comments needed), and then got to open their new p.j's. Christmas morning Jake took a present into Carter to help him wake up, so sweet! The boys were very excited with all the presents. Jake loved all his gifts and wanted to play with them immediately, he got mad that he would have to open more presents and not play with what he already had, aaahhhhh two is great! It did take Carter a little time though to appreciate his gifts! I surely could have done without the "I didn't ask for this", or the "I don't even like this!", and it just so happened that the one gift that mommy and daddy tried so hard to get but stores were completely sold out of was the one gift that apparently was most important! It is heart wrenching to see the pure excitement on his little face when he ran out to see all the presents and he says "Oh, I hope he brought my Thomas' Great Discovery Track!" and to know that it isn't there. Ugghhh!! So Santa gave his first "I owe you" instead of the "you should be grateful for what you have" talk. Unfortunately, we are STILL waiting for those darn elves to make more "Thomas Great Discovery Tracks" Mommy is running out of excuses, Amazon better hurry and get them in stock. Grandma and Grandpa Topham, uncle Tyler and Kyla came to stay with us a few days after Christmas, this is where they got their new blankets Grandma made for them. We really enjoyed having everyone here!
